Pure Retro Synth-Pop: La Roux
La Roux is an English synth-pop synth duo made up of singer and synth player Eleanor Jackson, known as Elly, and co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. Meaning “red-haired one” in French, La Roux referring 21 year old Elly Jackson whose flaming hair and distinctive voice have turned her into one of Britain’s biggest chart stars. La Roux have been cited as being simultaneously retro and futuristic in sound, their music is largely influenced by 1980s pop music including Eurythmics, Depeche Mode and The Knife.
The first La Roux single “Quicksand” was released, by hip label Kitsune in November 2008. On the strength of the single, the pair were named as #5 in the BBC’s annual poll, the Sound of 2009.
Their second single, “In for the Kill” was released on March 16, 2009 and peaked inside the top ten in the UK. “In for the Kill” is heavily influenced by the title theme of the 80s cartoon classic Pole Position, with even the video paying homage to the show. Dubstep musician Skream has created a remix of the track, titled the “Skream’s Let’s Get Ravey Remix”

“Bulletproof” is the third single by south London duo La Roux from their debut album La Roux.
The fourth single taken from La Roux’s debut album, “I’m Not Your Toy” is set to release on 28 Sept in the UK.
La Roux’s self-titled debut album was released on 29 June 2009 by Polydor Record and has been nominated for the 2009 Mercury Prize
The album is to be released by Cherrytree Records on 29 September 2009 in USA.
London-based electro-pop duo, La Roux, will be bringing their dance floor ready tunes and amazing hair styles back to North America this October.
