Queen Of The Clubs: Up Close with Sarah Main

Sarah Main

Sarah Main has been at the very heart of the Pacha over recent years through her long-standing residency at the Ibiza venue and touring extensively all over the globe, spreading the sexy house sound for which the club is so famous.

Sarah Main started out her career in Sydney, Australia, moved to Ibiza in 2000 and became the superstar resident of one of the Pacha, Ibiza soon after. Winner of the Best Ibiza DJ title at the 2006 Ibiza DJ Awards, she is also spinning around the world as routinely as she performs alongside the club’s biggest stars, in Pacha.

Here is an interview with Sarah Main speak to BoraMag.

BM: Another summer season in Ibiza is over. As autumn’s slowly fading, can you tell us your highlights of the Summer 2008?

SM: It flew by. As always it was loaded with amazing experiences and many highlights. I think this Summer the thing that stood out for me were my nights DJ’ing in Pacha for FMIF.

BM: What is so special about playing at Pacha in Ibiza?

SM: Pacha Ibiza is one of the most famous clubs in the world and has earned its credibility over many years of success. It’s the best place to play in the Summer as we have some of the best DJ talent in the world and it’s a magical space to see people going off to your music.

BM: You have been representing the sexiest house music of Pacha, Ibiza for 6 years. You are also touring extensively all over the globe, spreading the sexy house sound for which the club is so famous. How does it work for you?

SM: Yes its been a special journey. It’s great to work with such a established club that is known for its quality. Working with Pacha has offered me many experiences and allowed me to see the world, I really can’t ask for anything more.

BM: You live in Ibiza all year long, also traveling a lot so coming and back and forth from the island. What makes Ibiza so different than the rest of the world?

Sarah Main

SM: It’s quite bizarre as I’ve seen so many beautiful places around the world but coming back to Ibiza excites every single time. I cant describe the enchantment this island holds but when you get sucked in there’s no turning back. It’s one place in the world where all walks of life fit in and everyone is here for one common reason- because they want to be.

BM: As a resident can you tell us your favorite spot to eat, swim and chill-out, on this wonderful island, Ibiza?

SM: My favourite spot to grab a bite in the Summer is the fish shack- a little shack mounted on the rocks over Talamanca just for the Summer. You can go for a dip in the ocean while you wait for your seafood to be cooked. To swim I love Cala Salada as when your underwater its like your in an endless pool. And chill out, honestly- at my house with my dogs.

BM: For brand new Pure Pacha compilation you teamed with Goldfish and Pure Pacha 2008 just released on Pacha Recordings.
What can we expect from Pure Pacha 2008 CD?

SM: I think this year’s album reflects the new feeling of Pure Pacha.
Goldfish mirrors the sound they are famous for at their Pure Pacha gigs and mine reflects a set that is similar to what you what hear on your average Pure Pacha night. It’s a party night, as you can see by the awesome line up, and this is the vibe that is captured in the album.

Apple iTunes

BM: You also have a Pacha radio show on Galaxy Radio and a weekly radio show on National Radio FG in France. How are your radio shows going?

SM: Really well. We are expanding the areas my Galaxy show will be listenable from which is exciting. I’ve just received a new time slot after David Guetta’s show on Radio FG which I’m pleased about. I love having something to work on during my week days and it’s so enjoyable to sort through so much great music every week and share it with my listeners.

BM: Have you got any advice for the DJs who want to go to Ibiza ?

SM: The one piece of advice I can give to a DJ is to be dedicated and certain of your goals. It doesn’t come easy on this island but if you persist you can get there. Come for the whole season, DJ anywhere you can for free and meet as many people as possible. Everyone takes care of one another on this island, that is one of its beauties.
