The Setai is an intimate, serene oceanfront resort in the heart of South Beach. Its design vision artfully combines the rich architectural history of the neighborhood and its cultural diversity with the International Art Deco movement, particularly its influence in Asia. Set amid tropical gardens and sparkling pools at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, The Setai introduces the Asian traditions of simplicity and elegance to South Beach. Spacious. Stunning. Serene. The Setai awaits.
Designed by Jean Michel Gathy, and Jaya Ibrahim , The Setai bears the unmistakable imprint of legendary hotelier Adrian Zecha. The concept of The Setai began with two fundamental ideals: a vision of unprecedented luxury and service; and one of the most prized pieces of oceanfront property in South Beach. The Setai comprises two buildings, different yet built on the same foundations of superlative service and exceptional design. The Art Deco landmark building was originally built between 1936 – 1938 as the famed Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel. Next to it is the 40-story glass tower that surpasses all around it in elevation, views, and design. The Art Deco building is an exquisitely refurbished property that celebrates its history while embracing Asian influences. The impeccable details of each guest room are exemplified by authentic jade pieces that were discovered in the antique markets of China and displayed to perfection on teak walls.
Se – tai is actually the fusion of the first and last syllables of the words ‘Selatan Pantai’ which means South Beach in the South East Asian Bahasa language. The hotel has a choice of two restaurants – an upscale Asian restaurant, and a more casual grill. The Restaurant at The Setai feature authentic Asian cuisine from countries such as China, Thailand, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Led by the talented Jonathan Wright, a team of chefs, originating from these countries, prepares the food in an open ‘demonstration’ kitchen. The result is innovative Asian-inspired cuisine and contemporary comfort foods. The comfortable, relaxing Grill blends the warmth of the rustic hearth with luxurious surroundings.
The Spa at The Setai transports the traditions of the Pacific Rim to South Beach. The treatments open the door to a world dedicated to the restoration and realignment of the body and the spirit. Three pools are set at different temperatures, and gorgeous cabanas are spread throughout tropical gardens and flowing fountains.
The Setai creates a private world that connects guests with what has always been the greatest attraction of South Beach: the sea, the sun and the beach.
