One of the few truly arena-sized electronic acts in the world, Grammy Award winning electronic music sensation The Chemical Brothers created a global video project based on the theme Midnight Madness, using Google Earth and their fans worldwide to promote the release of the newest compilation double album Brotherhood. It is a second compilation spanning the band’s greatest hits, after 2003 Singles 93-03. The first record features 13 hits from Tom and Ed’s back catalogue and essential new tracks ‘Keep My Composure’ which features a guest appearance of the rap group Spank Rock, and the single ‘Midnight Madness’, while the second CD contains all ten parts of Chemical Brothers’ “Electronic Battle Weapon” series of special mixes, which the duo recorded apart the regular singles and albums since 1996.
Brotherhood, is preceded by the digital single “Midnight Madness”. The Chemical Brothers asked their fans across the world to submit video clips that revolves around the theme of “Midnight Madness” and tag the exact location where the footage was taken. The footage was then loaded into new Google Earth software enabling fans to browse through the submitted footage based on location. Exploring what people get up to at midnight, the best work was chosen by The Chemical Brothers and edited by Nexus into a Chemical Brothers concept video that now is available through Google Earth and Chemical Brothers’ YouTube channel.
