Simple Chic For A Modern World: Delano Miami

Delano Miami

Delano is a cool haven of relaxation in the middle of one of the world’s most vibrant cities, located in the heart of South Beach and directly on the ocean, Delano represents the next generation of “Urban Resort” – where the notions of the “Indoor/Outdoor Lobby” and the idea of “Simple Chic” were initiated. This 238-room Deco tower, built in 1947 and and named, in the patriotic spirit of that postwar time, after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In the mid-1990s, the hotel was given a makeover by Ian Schrager and designer Philippe Starck.

Delano’s Water Salon

From the moment the lobby doors swing open, it is clear that Delano has the imprint of the formidable hotel-design duo Ian Schrager and Philippe Starck. “Indoor/Outdoor” concept of the lobby with its feel of an interwoven “village” that makes for a seamless separation between indoors and outdoors. Each room features Delano’s signature all-white guestrooms, and compliments the rest of the artistic destination. Delano’s stunning pool is a complete reinvention of the standard form, and more akin to a Water Salon, with its soothing underwater music and separate areas devoted to floating and meditating.

The Blue Door Restaurant provides refined modern French cuisine with Brazilian and global influences. The Rose Bar is the best spot for decadent lounging, with its custom-made Venetian chandeliers and warm rose-hued walls. Designed by Morgans Hotel Group and Lenny Kravitz, The Florida Room is a modern-day piano lounge inspired by a classic period of South Floridian glamour. The focal point of The Florida Room is a Lucite grand piano by Schimmel, a replica of the Lucite grand piano Kravitz keeps in his own.
