The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards

The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards don’t officially get underway until this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, but there are already several Moonman recipients to announce: the winners in the “Professional Category” directors, editors, artists who work behind the scenes on videos for Gnarls Barkley, Kanye West, Erykah Badu, Death Cab for Cutie and The White Stripes.

The Best Choreography award is choreographer Michael Rooney for Gnarls Barkley’s “Run” video.

The Best Special Effects award is Jonas & François for Kanye West’s “Good Life” video.

The Best Direction award is Erykah Badu and Mr. Roboto for “Honey” video.

The Best Editing award is editors Aaron Stewart-Ahn and Jeff Buchanan for Death Cab for Cutie’s “I Will Possess Your Heart” video.

The Best Cinematography award is Wyatt Troll for the White Stripes’s “Conquest” video.
